ATM Azharul Islam appeals to the nation seeking prayers for the speedy recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer ATM Azharul Islam, today on 1 December issued a statement urging the people of the country to pray to Almighty Allah for the quick recovery and healing of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

In the statement, he said: “Through immense sacrifice, courage, and struggle, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has played a lifelong role in protecting country’s independence and sovereignty and in state-building process. Her unwavering stance and movement against the 15-year-long Awami fascist rule will remain inscribed in golden letters in the nation’s history.

He further said that she has been deprived of the opportunity to receive advanced medical treatment abroad by keeping her imprisoned under false and fabricated cases — which has pushed her towards life-threatening risks. Due to not receiving sufficient and proper medical care, her physical condition has deteriorated severely.

The Nayeb-e-Ameer said:
“With Begum Khaleda Zia’s release through the July Revolution, I, along with all the oppressed people of the country, have expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah. At this crucial moment of democratic transition and the establishment of a justice-based state after the fall of fascism, the nation expects that she will assume the role of a guide for the people. In this critical hour, we pray to the Almighty for her swift recovery and complete healing. May Allah protect her and her family.”

In the statement, Mr. ATM Azharul Islam called upon Begum Khaleda Zia’s family members and party leaders and activists to remain patient. At the same time, he urged the people of the nation to pray to the Almighty Allah for her quick recovery.
