Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Head of the its Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair issued a statement today, 10 November, strongly condemning and protesting the completely false and baseless information spread about a so-called secret meeting between Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former Member of Parliament Mia Golam Porwar and Jatiya Party Secretary General Shamim Haider Patwary.

In his statement, he said that some media outlets have published rumors of a secret meeting held at Dhaka’s Hotel InterContinental between Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former Member of Parliament Professor Mia Golam Porwar and Jatiya Party Secretary General Barrister Shamim Haider Patwary. This is entirely false, baseless, and driven by politically malicious intent. I strongly condemn and protest the dissemination of this false information.

He further said that in reality, no such meeting or interaction took place. Some media outlets are attempting to mislead the public with dishonest political motives — which is extremely unfortunate and condemnable.

He urged the people of the country not to be misled by such rumors and false reports. He also called upon the concerned media outlets to refrain from publishing such fabricated and politically motivated news.”
