Jamaat Ameer calls to observe the ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’ with due fervor

-Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued the following statement on 5 November, calling upon the people to observe 7 November, the National Revolution and Solidarity Day, with due dignity and solemnity.

“7 November is the National Revolution and Solidarity Day. This day holds immense importance and significance in the history of Bangladesh. On this day in 1975, the freedom-loving people of the country took to the streets with the determination to protect the independence and sovereignty of the nation and also to resist all conspiracies.

On 3 November 1975, Major General Khaled Mosharraf staged a counter military coup and conspired to bring the Awami League back to power. At that time, patriotic soldiers and the general masses, united in spirit, took to the streets chanting ‘Naraye Takbir, Allahu Akbar!’, and successfully foiled the conspiracy of Khaled Mosharraf, thereby safeguarding the nation’s independence and sovereignty.

We are observing 7 November this year at a time when the nation once again stands at the crossroads of a grave crisis. Various conspiracies have begun to hand the nation back into the grip of fascism, and the people can already hear its approaching footsteps. If fascism is allowed to return through anti-national intrigues, the entire nation will be plunged into a severe catastrophe.

In this situation, in order to protect the country and the nation, patriotic students and citizens, people of all parties and opinions who believe in multiparty democracy, as well as the current government and the armed forces, must work together in unity.

Therefore, by firmly resisting all conspiracies and plots, we must unite under the pledge to safeguard the independence and sovereignty of our beloved country. I earnestly call upon all fronts and wing organizations of Jamaat-e-Islami and all patriotic students and citizens to observe 7 November, as the National Revolution and Solidarity Day, with due dignity and fervor.”
