Dhaka.district Jamaat leaders strongly condemn and protest against the false and baseless report published in Daily Inqilab

Dhaka District Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Mohammad Delwar Hossain, and Secretary, Maulana Md. Afzal Hossain, issued a joint statement on August 19 strongly condemning and protesting against the false and baseless report published on the back page of Daily Inqilab on August 19, 2025, under the headline “Blueprint for Jamaatization of Mosques,” (‘মসজিদগুলো জামায়াতিকরণের নীলনকশা।"

In the statement, they said: We have taken note of the news item published in the same issue under the headline “Dismissal of the Khatib of Haimayetpur Central Mosque Without Notice (হেমায়েতপুরে বড় মসজিদের খতিবকে বিনা নোটিশে চাকরিচ্যুত’)”. The report falsely claimed that “because of speaking out against the deviation and misguidance of Maududism from the mosque pulpit, Jamaat-Shibir is conspiring against Qawmi scholars, and incidents of dismissal, physical harassment, and intimidation of scholars from the Qawmi tradition are occurring in various parts of the country.”

Such allegations are completely fabricated, baseless, and motivated. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has no connection whatsoever with the incidents mentioned in these reports. By spreading such false and concocted information, the image of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami cannot be tarnished.

Dhaka district Jamaat leaders further stated: Neither the Mutawalli nor any member of the committee of Haimayetpur Mosque has any connection with Jamaat. No leader, activist, or supporter of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is involved with this incident either. This report has been published solely with the malicious intent of damaging the image of Jamaat-e-Islami, and it bears no relation to reality.

They said: Newspapers are the mirror of society. To earn public trust and also to demonstrate responsibility, the media must present truthful and objective news. The presentation of misleading, fabricated, and false information undermines both the standards and credibility of journalism.

We hope that Daily Inqilab will refrain in the future from publishing false reports against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir, and that it will publish this rejoinder in the appropriate place to dispel the confusion created.
