Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued a statement on August 10 calling for the proper observance of International Youth Day on August 12.

In the statement, he said that since 2000, 12th August has been celebrated as International Youth Day. The contribution of youth to national life is undeniable. After the July popular uprising, the nation's expectations from the youth have increased even more. History testifies that major changes in the world have come through the hands of the youth community. We hope that the youth will play a leading role in building the Bangladesh of the future. Therefore, a healthy and conducive environment must be ensured for the development of youth power to build a sound nation.

I call upon all branches and organizations of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to observe International Youth Day with due respect on August 12 through discussions, youth rallies, seminars, symposiums, and various other programs.
