Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Head of party's Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair issued a statement strongly condemning and protesting the offensive and false remarks published on the front page of the 6 August issue of Daily Inqilab, quoting a speech, delivered by the Ameer of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, Maulana Muhibbullah Babunagari on 5 August at a community center in Nazirhat Municipality of Fatikchhari Upazila in Chattogram. The headline of the report read, "Jamaat-e-Islami is a fraudulent Islamic party, worse than Qadianis."

In the statement, Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair said,
“On 5 August, at a community center in Nazirhat Municipality of Fatikchhari Upazila in Chattogram, the Ameer of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, Maulana Muhibbullah Babunagari made a false, fabricated, and indecent remark terming Jamaat-e-Islami a ‘fraudulent Islamic party, worse than Qadianis.’ This is undoubtedly a reckless and provocative comment. At a time when unity among Islamic parties in the country is more crucial than ever, such a statement is nothing but a deliberate attempt to undermine Islamic solidarity. These kinds of remarks are against Islamic values and political decorum and serve only to empower the conspirators against Islam.”

He further stated, “The claim that ‘Jamaat-e-Islami wants to establish Maududism (Maududi’s Islam)’ is completely untrue. The true sources of Islam are the Qur’an and Sunnah. Jamaat-e-Islami follows that very Islam. There is no separate form of Islam called ‘Maududi’s Islam.’ Through such baseless and misleading comments, Maulana Muhibbullah Babunagari has attempted to confuse the nation, which is contrary to his responsible position.”

“At a time when national unity among the country’s Islamic parties is desperately needed, the nation does not expect such remarks from a senior and responsible religious scholar like Maulana Muhibbullah Babunagari. Therefore, we respectfully urge him to refrain from making such false, baseless, and hateful comments against Jamaat-e-Islami.”
