Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued a condolence statement on July 20, expressing deep sorrow over the passing of three brothers who died while traveling to attend the national rally.
In the statement, he said: "The sacrifice and unwavering determination with which these three respected brothers set out to participate in the rally will remain a source of inspiration for us. I express my profound grief over their passing and pray for the forgiveness of their souls. May Allah (SWT) accept them as martyrs and grant them a high status in Jannah."
"I extend my heartfelt sympathy to the injured and pray to Allah (SWT) for their swift recovery. I also express deep condolences to the families of the deceased and the injured. May the Almighty grant the families and loved ones of the deceased patience and strength during this difficult time."
It is to be noted that on Saturday, July 19, while coming to Dhaka to attend the national rally organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan, a tragic road accident occurred. As a result, Maulana Abu Saeed, Ameer of Dakop Upazila Jamaat in Khulna, and Mostafizur Rahman from Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna district, passed away (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un). Several other leaders and activists were seriously injured in these accidents.
On the other hand, during the rally, Shah Alam from Rangpur district suffered a massive heart attack and subsequently was taken to Central Islamic Bank Hospital in Kakrail, Dhaka, where he passed away while undergoing treatment (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un).
