Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued a statement on July 16 condemning and protesting the heinous attack on the National Citizens Party (NCP)'s pre-announced 'March to Gopalganj' program in Gopalganj.
In the statement, he said, on July 16 (Wednesday), the fascist Awami League backed terrorists attacked the NCP's pre-announced 'March to Gopalganj' program in Gopalganj district. The NCP leaders had discussed the matter with the administration in advance and sought assistance and due security in implementing their program as per normal rules. It is the administration's responsibility to cooperate in implementing the programs of any political party. But effective action by the law enforcement agencies has not been observed. This is really a matter of great concern. Gopalganj is not a district isolated from Bangladesh. It is part of Bangladesh. The government must play an effective role in maintaining law and order everywhere in Bangladesh, including Gopalganj.
He further said, the fascist regime of the murderer Sheikh Hasina collapsed due to the mass uprising of the students and the public on August 5. But the country is not yet free from fascism. The fallen dictator Sheikh Hasina has been ruling the country for 15 and a half years. They are carrying out evil activities to destabilize the country again. They want to gain benefits by carrying out various evil activities. As part of that, today, cocktail explosions and vandalism were carried out at the NCP's pre-announced program. Awami miscreants vandalized and set fire to vehicles of law enforcement agencies and officials including the UNO. Several police members were injured in this terrorist incident. I wish them a speedy recovery and condemn and protest this terrorist attack by the Awami miscreants.
I urge the concerned authorities to quickly arrest the accomplices of the fallen Awami fascism, bring them under the law to ensure their appropriate punishment.
