Bangladeshi youth Muradur Rahman Munna being abducted, beaten and brutally killed by Indian BSF; Secretary General condemns

-Professor Mia Golam Porwar

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued the following statement on April 10, 2025 strongly condemning and protesting against the recent incident as Bangladeshi youth Muradur Rahman Munna has been abducted and subsequently beaten to death by Indian BSF.

“I strongly condemn and protest against the incident as a Bangladeshi youth Muradur Rahman Munna, a resident adjacent to Sejamura border in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district has been abducted and subsequently beaten and brutally killed by Indian BSF on the evening of April 9. The family of the deceased Muradur Rahman Munna has stated that when he went to visit his agricultural land in the border area, some members of the Indian BSF force detained him without any reason, beat him up and left him on the Bangladesh border. When the BGB patrolling members picked him up in a seriously injured condition and took him to Brahmanbaria District Hospital, the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

By detaining and murdering him without any reason in a brutal way, Indian BSF have violated international human rights and diplomatic norms. 40 days before this incident, another Bangladeshi youth was killed in the same way by the BSF.

He also said, we are observing with deep concern that the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) often unjustly shoots and kills Bangladeshis like birds on the Bangladesh border without any reason and seriously injures or kill them consequently. India has repeatedly promised to bring the killings on the India-Bangladesh border to zero. But despite several meetings between the Indian BSF and the Bangladesh BGB, the killings and torture of Bangladeshi citizens on the border area are not stopping in any way. The people of Bangladesh are deeply angry and shocked by such aggressive behavior of the Indian BSF. Such behavior of the BSF proves that India does not want good relations with Bangladesh.

He said, the people of Bangladesh always desire friendly behavior from their neighbors. We hope that the Indian government will stop the killings on the Indo-Bangladesh border and take legal action against the culprits by conducting a fair and impartial investigation into the killing of Bangladeshi youth Muradur Rahman Munna.

We call on the Bangladesh government to take effective steps to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi citizens and strongly condemn and protest the Indian aggression. At the same time, I pray to Almighty Allah to accept the deceased Muradur Rahman Munna as a martyr and express my deepest condolences to his bereaved family and relatives. May Allah bless them with strength to bear this grief.
