Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Member of Parliament Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued the following statement on March 24, 2025 strongly condemning and protesting the brutal killing of Gaza's newly appointed Prime Minister, Ismail Barhoum, on the night of March 23, 2025:
“I strongly condemn and protest the horrific incident in which the newly appointed Prime Minister of Gaza, Ismail Barhoum, was brutally murdered by the Israelis at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis on the night of March 23, 2025. Just one week after the killing of Hamas's Prime Minister in Gaza, Issam al-Da’alis on March 18, the Israeli criminal forces launched another merciless and inhuman attack on the hospital, barbarically killing the new Prime Minister of Gaza, Ismail Barhoum. This brutal act has starkly revealed the genocidal and inhuman character of the Israelis to the entire world.
The killing of Gaza’s new Prime Minister, Ismail Barhoum, makes it clear to the world that the Israeli forces have no regard for international laws. They are determined to carry out the genocide of the Palestinian Muslims and wipe them out. To protect the Muslims of Palestine, I call upon the United Nations, the OIC, and the peace-loving world and Muslim Ummah to take strong action against the Israeli genocide.
I pray to Allah to accept the martyrdom of Gaza's new Prime Minister Ismail Barhoum and grant him the highest ranks in Jannah. I express my deep condolences to his grieving family, the leadership of Hamas, and the Palestinian people, and I pray that Allah gives them the strength to endure this sorrow.”
