Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued a statement on 15th February congratulating and extending sincere congratulations to the UN Human Rights High Commission for revealing the truth behind all the killings that occurred in July and August in its investigation report.
In the statement, Jamaat Ameer said, “The fascist Sheikh Hasina has carried out an inhuman and brutal genocide in Bangladesh between July 1 and August 5 of the last year just to stay in office and her such brutalities have been acknowledged in the report of the UN Human Rights High Commission. The report has also exposed the identities and information of the killers and the masterminds behind this genocide to the international community. We, on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, express our sincere congratulations and best wishes to the UN Human Rights High Commission for unveiling the truth.”
In the statement, he further added, "The genocide that occurred in July and August of last year in Bangladesh were orchestrated under the direction of the fascist Sheikh Hasina, and this has now been revealed to the world through the UN Human Rights High Commissioner’s report. The entire nation feels relieved and is hopeful for justice now. The UN report has made it clear to the world that the genocide and human rights violations took place under the orders of Sheikh Hasina. Furthermore, the masterminds and their accomplices were responsible for torture, disappearances, and the brutal genocide of the people, including burning bodies. Bangladesh's democracy and all democratic and constitutional institutions have been destroyed as well. Citizens have been subjected to inhumane torture in makeshift torture cell like Aaina Ghar.”
The statement continued that, "The UN's report will stand as a document of genocide rather than just being a report about the oppressed. The interim government must ensure the trial of all those involved in the genocide. The people believe that the Awami League and its affiliates have no right to engage in politics due to their crimes of genocide. The interim government should also consider the demand of banning Awami League, as per the wishes of the people.
