Secretary General condemns US President Donald Trump’s statement regarding Gaza takeover

Calls for full implementation of the ceasefire agreement signed between Hamas and Israel

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued the following statement on February 12, condemning the threat made by US President Mr. Donald Trump on February 10 that 'Gaza will become hell' if all Israeli hostages held in Gaza are not released by February 15 noon.

"I condemn the threat made by US President Mr. Donald Trump on February 10 that 'Gaza will become hell' if all Israeli hostages held in Gaza are not released by February 15 noon. Hamas has become compelled to announce the suspension of the prisoner release because the Israelis are violating the terms of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. In this context, US President Donald Trump has violated international law by threatening to turn Gaza into hell. His threat is completely unjustified, unintended and unwelcome. Peace-loving people all over the world are shocked and surprised by his provocative threat. By making this threat, he once again hinted at a conspiracy to ignite unrest in the Middle East. His statement has caused a strong negative reaction all over the world and there is intense tension and panic among Arab countries.

I call on US President Donald Trump to refrain from making such threats and to force the Israelis to fully implement the ceasefire agreement signed between Hamas and Israel in order to create peace and stability in the Middle East.”
