The Ameer of Cox's Bazar District Jamaat-e-Islami, Principal Maulana Nur Ahmad Anwari, and Secretary Jahidul Islam have jointly issued a statement strongly condemning and protesting the false and misleading news broadcasted on the satellite television channel Banglavision on February 8. The report falsely termed Parimal Kanti Shil, who had addressed the Cox's Bazar Jamaat-e-Islami Workers' Conference as a non-Muslim representative, as an Awami League leader.
The leaders stated that the Workers' Conference organized by Cox's Bazar District Jamaat-e-Islami on February 8 was one of the most disciplined, peaceful, and successful conferences. The massive presence of people is clear evidence of the growing interest and support for Jamaat. As part of the event, similar to other parts of the country, Parimal Kanti Shil was invited as a non-Muslim representative in his capacity as a trustee of the Hindu Dhormio Kollan Trust (Religious Welfare Trust), which operates under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. As scheduled, he delivered a speech in the presence of the Jamaat Ameer, praising Jamaat's role in serving the nation and its people, which was well received by all.
However, it is unfortunate that BanglaVision TV deliberately broadcasted false and misleading news, labeling Parimal Kanti Shil as an Awami League leader, with the intention of tarnishing the image of Jamaat and discrediting its peaceful and successful event. This act is highly condemnable and a clear example of yellow journalism.
It is important to clarify that Parimal Kanti Shil has never been involved with Awami League politics. The individual named ‘Parimal De’ in the BanglaVision report is not the same person as Parimal Kanti Shil, the member of the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust.
We call upon BanglaVision TV to publicly apologize to the nation for broadcasting such blatant falsehood and urge them to refrain from airing such misleading and fabricated reports in the future.
