Expressing deep concern over the increase in LPG gas price by 19 taka, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued the following statement on February 3.

“I express deep concern over increasing the price of a 12 kg cylinder of LPG gas by 19 taka. Such random and unusual price hike will create more difficulties for the poor and low-income people. The increase in the price of LPG gas by 19 taka will further increase the economic pressure on the poor people. Before taking this decision, the government should have considered the interests of the poor people. This unjust and unreasonable decision of the government will further increase the suffering and misery of these communities.

"I urge the government to immediately withdraw the decision to increase the price of LPG gas, considering the interests of the poor people of the country."
