Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Member of Parliament Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued the following statement on January 25 condemning and protesting the brutal rape and murder of a Bangladeshi young woman in Bangalore of India.
“I strongly condemn and protest the brutal rape and murder of a Bangladeshi young woman in Bangalore, India. It is the responsibility of the Indian government to ensure the safety and security of Bangladeshis residing in India. The horrific incident of raping and brutally murdering a Bangladeshi young woman highlights the Indian government’s utter failure to provide security to Bangladeshis living there. Such inhumane and anti-humanitarian acts are also violations of the United Nations Charter.
I urge the Indian government to conduct a free, fair, and impartial investigation into the incident, identify the perpetrator involved, and ensure exemplary punishment under the law.
Additionally, I call upon the Bangladesh government to lodge a strong protest with the Indian government and take necessary diplomatic measures regarding this heinous incident.”
