-Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 13 December 2024 urging the countrymen to observe ‘Martyred Intellectual Day’ on 14 December and Victory Day on 16 December.

‘Martyred Intellectual Day’ is going to be observed on upcoming 14 December while 16 December is going to be celebrated as nation’s “Victory Day.’ These two days are highly significant in our national lives. I am remembering those great intellectuals who had sacrificed their lives and those freedom fighters who had fought hard in the battle field during the liberation war. I am praying their salvation and eternal peace. I would also like to remember the martyrs of 2024 revolution who have sacrificed their lives for the country. I am praying seeking salvation of their departed souls. I am also praying for the injured victims of this revolution and seeking their quick recovery.

The nation is going to observe ‘Martyred Intellectual Day’ and “Victory Day in such a period when the students and the general masses have freed the nation from the clutches of fascism. The nation has become free from the misrule of 15 and half years. They are now free from torture and repression and the economy is trying to recover from severe destruction. Under the circumstances, the allies of the ousted fascist regime are plotting conspiracies to destabilise the country. We are urging the countrymen to tackle all these conspiracies unitedly.

I am urging all the wings and front organizations of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the countrymen to observe ‘Martyred Intellectual Day’ on 14 December and Victory Day on 16 December by holding discussions and prayer programs with the vow for protecting country's independence and sovereignty.

Besides, I am extending my greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of the Victory Day and wishing their peace, progress and prosperity.
