Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued a statement on 30th November expressing deep concern and simultaneously condemning the violent protests in front of the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata where the national flag of Bangladesh and the effigy of the Chief Advisor have been burnt.

In the statement, he said, “We express deep concern over the burning of the national flag of Bangladesh and the effigy of the Chief Advisor by the mob Indians in front of the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata, India. This incident by the extremist organization called ‘Bangiya Hindu Jagaran’ is completely unexpected, undesirable and regrettable.

In the statement, he further said that the incident of burning the national flag of Bangladesh and the effigy of the chief advisor by a radical organization called 'Bangiya Hindu Jagaran' is against international law and diplomatic etiquette. Diplomatic experts believe that this incident is nothing but a part of a deep conspiracy and simultaneously a heinous plot to destroy the friendly relations between Bangladesh and India. Under the circumstances, the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission is facing deficiency of security. The Indian government should take necessary measures to prevent such unwanted situations in the future and also to ensure due security to the Bangladesh High Commission.

He said that the main motto of Bangladesh's foreign policy is 'friendship with all, malice to none.' Bangladesh is a peace-loving country that believes in the principle of coexistence. Bangladesh also expects the same policy from all countries of the world, particularly the neighbouring countries.

"We urge the Indian government to take necessary measures to prevent such untoward incidents in the future and to ensure the security of all Bangladeshi diplomatic missions, diplomatic and non-diplomatic personnel stationed in India."
