*protests obstructions in organizing funeral in absentia,

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 6th September, 2023 declaring two days program on next 8th and 10th September protesting the obstruction and attacks while organizing funerals in absentia of world renowned scholar of Quran Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee, simultaneously condemning the arrests of hundreds of leaders and activists nationwide and lodging of false and politically motivated cases against thousands of leaders and activists.
Earlier, on 16th August, from a press conference, Jamaat-e-Islami had declared nationwide prayer program on 18th August and peaceful procession on 23rd August. But the government obstructed in exercising the constitutionally recognized political rights of Jamaat-e-Islami. The government also continued arrest drives in the houses, establishment and offices of Jamaat leaders and activists across the country. They also vandalized and ransacked the furniture during this raid.
He further said, on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami, I am declaring peaceful procession in Dhaka city on 8th September and similar programs in other cities on 10th September protesting and condemning the obstruction and attacks while organizing funerals in absentia of world renowned scholar of Quran Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee, simultaneously condemning the arrests of hundreds of leaders and activists nationwide and lodging of false and politically motivated cases against thousands of leaders and activists and simultaneously demanding immediate release of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and other religious scholars and pressing for organizing a free, fair and credible election under a caretaker government.
I am expecting sincere cooperation of Jamaat leaders and activists, the fellow countrymen and the administration to make the declared programs successful.
