Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central executive committee member and party’s media and publicity secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda has issued the following statement on 21st August 2023 protesting the false and baseless information, which is stated in an article titled ‘১৫ ও ২১ আগস্ট-এর প্রেক্ষাপট পরিণতি ও আগামীর বাংলাদেশ’ (The background and consequence of 15th and 21st August and Tomorrow’s Bangladesh) published in Daily Bangladesh Pratidin on 21st August.

In the article, its author Major General Mohammad Ali Shikdar, PSC (Rtd.) have placed some false and baseless information against the Jamaat leaders and I am vehemently protesting it.

He claimed in his article that, Jamaat’s ministers had said publicly that no liberation war was ever took place in this country. I am severely condemning the information and affirming that no ministers from Jamaat-e-Islami had ever made such statement. It is nothing but a fictitious statement of Mohammad Ali Shikar. It is far away from truth.

I am urging Major General Mohammad Ali Shikdar, PSC (Rtd.) to be refrained from making such untrue statement citing the Jamaat leaders in future.
