Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 11 September 2021protesting and condemning the unjustified arrests of Dinajpur South organizational district’s working committee member Md. Hafizul Islam and simultaneously protesting the false case against the leaders of GhoraghatUpazila.

“Police has arrested Md. Hafizul Islam this early morning from GhoraghatUpazila under Dinajpur South organizational district. There was no arrest of warrant against him. For last couple of days, police have been arresting the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from different places of the country. I am condemning the arrest drive of the police force.

Police has been arresting and lodging false cases against Jamaat leaders and activists in order to hamper the constructive activities of this organization. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a systematic and democratic political party. The constitution of the country gave all political parties to exercise their organizational activities. Government is intentionally creating a terror environment to detain the Jamaat leaders. But the government cannot linger its tenure by continuing repression and torture.

I am urging the concerned authorities to stop repression and arrest drive and to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Md. Hafizul Islam immediately.
