Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 19 August 2021 to mark 10th of Muharram, the holy Ashura Day.
“For the Muslims all around the world, the Day of holy Ashura is very significant and important. The tragic incident of martyrdom of the grandson of our holy Prophet (peace be upon Him), Hossain (RA) on the day of 10th Muharram is one of the most significant and remarkable incidents of the Muslim history. The whole Muslim Ummah became emotional, shocked and aggrieved by remembering the tragic events of Karbala.
Hazrat Hossain (Ra) embraced martyrdom along with his family members on that day as he protested and resisted injustices. He was martyred to uphold the system of Islamic state and subsequent Caliphate, which had been launched by the rightly guided companions of the Prophet (peace be upon Him). The tragic evens of Karbala took place as he did not make any compromise with the Islamic Caliphate. The incident of Karbala inspired us to wage struggle and protest against all types of lies, falsehood, deception, avarice and injustice.
At present, Bangladesh and many other countries of the world have been suffering terribly from repression, oppression, tortures and injustices. The events of 10 Muharram teach us to launch war against all these ill deeds. By taking lessons from the incidents of Karbala, if we can undertake more effective efforts against all types of lies, falsehood, deception, avarice, nepotism and injustice, then the discussion of Karbala would become successful. Only then, we would be able to pay proper respect to Hazrat Hossain (RA).
