Condemns Kushtia’s triple murder and ongoing abduction incidents

Secretary General expresses concern over the deteriorating law and order situation

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 14 June 2021 condemning the brutal incident as an ASI of police force shot three people including a woman and a kid at the Customs circle of the Kushtia city on 13 June. Though the kid rushed to the nearby mosque but could not skip from the bullet of the murderers. It is the responsibility of the police force to protect public life and property. If anybody commits crimes, it is their moral obligation to bring the offenders into the book. They were not given any license to kill people without trial. But such murder incident in broad day light really shocked the people. We have no word to condemn the incident.

We have been observing with great concern that recently the law-and-order situation of the country have deteriorated severely. Crimes like abduction, murder, rape are occurring alarmingly. People are being without trial procedure. People are becoming dare to violate law as they are repeatedly becoming deprived from getting justice. A country cannot function in such a way.

I am urging the concerned authorities to ensure punishment of the police members and also calling upon my fellow countrymen to form resistances against all types of abduction, murder, rape and repression.
