Secretary General urges to reopen educational institutions immediately

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 27 May 2021 urging to reopen educational institutions immediately.

“Amid the ongoing corona pandemic situation, every institutions and offices including mills and factories, offices, mass transports, markets and shopping malls are functioning as usually. Only the educational institutions are closed. The academic institutions have been remaining closed for 14 months. As such the students of the schools, colleges, Madrasa and Universities are being deprived from their basic rights of acquiring knowledge and education. The nation is gradually moving towards meritless condition and subsequently towards ignorance. If this situation continues, our nation will turn into a backboneless and meritless nation and will face utmost crises. If other institutions can function by complying all the health directives, why the authority is repeatedly deciding to keep the academic institutions closed? The countrymen think, it is the earnest requirement of the moment to reopen the academic institutions by complying all health and medical directives properly.

We are urging the concerned authorities to immediately reopen the educational institutions alongside ensuring the health protection of the students and the relevant personnel.
