Jamaat Ameer urges to observe ‘Martyred Intellectual Day’ on 14 December and Victory Day on 16 December with due fervor

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 13 December 2020 urging the countrymen to observe ‘Martyred Intellectual Day’ on 14 December and Victory Day on 16 December.

‘Martyred Intellectual Day’ is going to observed on upcoming 14 December while 16 December is going to celebrated as nation’s “Victory Day.’ These two days are highly significant in our national lives. I am remembering those great souls whoever had sacrificed their lives and those freedom fighters who had fought hard in the battle field during the liberation war. I am praying their salvation and eternal peace.

The nation is going to observe ‘Martyred Intellectual Day’ and “Victory Day in such a period when the country has been going through a suffocating situation. People, in one hand, due to corona pandemic, are living deplorable lives while on the other, the nation is moving towards an uncertain destiny as it lost the track of democracy. Rule of law, human rights, voting rights and freedom of expressions do not exist in the country now. Corruptions and misrule have engulfed the nation. Public lives and properties are not secured. People of dissident views are being oppressed and tortured brutally. Even the religious leaders and Islamic scholars are not spared from such repression.

I am urging all the wings and front organizations of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the countrymen to observe ‘Martyred Intellectual Day’ on 14 December and Victory Day on 16 December by holding discussions and prayer programs. Besides, I am extending my greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of the Victory Day and wishing their peace, progress and prosperity.
