Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued following statement on 22 September 2020 urging to take immediate effective steps to resolve the problems several thousand migrant workers who have become stranded after coming from Saudi Arabia on vacation.

Thousands of migrant workers become stranded after coming from Saudi Arabia on vacation. They are suffering from various harassments as they are not getting reconfirmed tickets. Tickets and visa’s tenure are coming to an end shortly. If they cannot join their office on due time, they may lose their jobs. Several thousand migrant workers demonstrated in front of Saudi Airlines office in Dhaka's Karwan Bazar area this morning, due to shortage of tickets to Saudi Arabia. Government has obligation to resolve the crises of the expatriate workers. They must hold dialogue with their Saudi Arabian counterpart to resolve these crises immediately. Otherwise, the government has to take the liabilities of the consequence of such failures.
