Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 13 September 2020 urging the concerned authorities to repair the Baitus Salat Mosque, located in Pashchim Tolla of the Narayanganj city and to open the Mosque subsequently for the Muslim devotees.

31 people have killed so far in connection with incident of recent explosion that took place in the Baitus Salat Mosque, located in Pashchim Tolla of the Narayanganj city on 4 September last. 5 of them are still in very critical condition. The countrymen are deeply shocked and mournful over the incident. They are waiting to know the real reason behind such explosion. The people are also inclined to see punitive measures against those personnel whose negligence is somehow caused this tragic accident.

Since the explosion, several days have been passed. But the Mosque did not resume its activities so far. Local Muslims cannot say their prayer over there as the mosque is not repaired yet. But they are keen to see this mosque open following its repair and renovation. The locals do not want any sluggish move or administrative complications in this process. 

We are urging the concerned authorities to take punitive steps against those who were responsible behind such tragic accident of explosion and also to reopen it immediately after completing necessary repair and reconstruction.
