Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 2 September 2020 demanding immediate release of Jamaat’s Thakurgaon district Ameer Maulana Abdul Hakim.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’sThakurgaon district Ameer Maulana Abdul Hakim today surrendered before the court in connection with a false case and pleaded for a bail. He went to the court as a lawful citizen of the country. But the court rejected his bail plea and sent him to jail. The case, which has been filed against him is totally false and politically motivated. We are shocked as he was supposed to secure a bail but he has been made deprived from his due legal rights.

I am calling upon the concerned authorities to release Maulana Abdul Hakim and other detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami immediately.
