Bangladeshi civilian shot dead by BSF in Naogaon border; Jamaat Ameer condemns

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 17 June 2020 protesting and condemning the latest incident across India-Bangladesh border as Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle trader at Dakkhin Patari village along Adatala border in Sapahar upazila this morning.

Abdul Bari, a Bangladeshi cattle trader has been shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Dakkhin Patari village along Adatala border in Sapahar upazila today. Bangladeshi citizens are being killed in the same way often by the Indian security forces. If any citizen of the frontier region commits any crime, he can be prosecuted by the existing law. But there is no room for extra judicial killing by any means. There is a deed between the two neighboring countries to bring an end to the citizen killings at the frontier area. But BSF violates that deeds repeatedly and kills Bangladeshi innocent civilians on regular basis. Such incident is being taken place due to our submissive foreign policy.

I am urging the concerned authorities to take effective steps to stop such murder immediately.”
