Jamaat Ameer urges all to help and assist the victims of super cyclone Amphan

Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 23rd May, 2020 urging everybody to assist the victims of super cyclone Amphan.

“The disastrous attack of super cyclone Amphan has caused massive damage in 26 coastal districts of the country. Off these 26 districts, 19 districts are the worst affected. Seasonal fruits, crops, fisheries and other industries worth of thousands of crore taka have been destroyed in this catastrophe. Hundreds of kilometers of rural roads, bridges and culverts and embankments have been damaged as well. The over flow of water has flooded all the fisheries farms and ponds away. Semi-brick houses have been destroyed as well. So far, 22 people have been killed and hundred others got injured in this cyclone.

I am extending sympathy to all the cyclone victims. I am praying for the departed souls, who have been killed in this natural disaster. I am urging the authorities concerned to take due initiatives to ensure medical treatment and due compensation of the victims.

We are observing that, a responsible figure of the government has made some irrational comments in regards to this disaster, which has caused more pains to the victims. We are shocked at his unjust and inhuman comment.

I am calling upon my fellow leaders and activists and the countrymen to take stand by the side of the Amphan victims. Besides, I am urging the concerned authorities to take proper initiatives to facilitate the rehabilitation of the affected people.”
