Matiur Rahman Akanda rejects the false news against Jamaat-e-Islami

Central Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and party’s central executive committee member Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda has issued the following statement on 30 April 2020 protesting and gainsaying the false news titled “কেরানীগঞ্জে জামায়াত নেতার বাড়িতে বোমা বিস্ফোরণ” (Bomb exploded in Jamaat leader’s house in Keraniganj), published in the online version of Daily Ittefaq and Daily Amader Shomoy.

“The aforesaid news is totally false, concocted and politically motivated. Jamaat and Chhatrashibir have no link with the alleged incident.

The man, who is introduced in the news as a Jamaat leader, is not involved with Jamaat-e-Islami. The report further falsely claimed that, 10/12 Chhatrashibir activists are used to live in the 4th floor of the house. But practically, no Chhatrashibir activist was living there. As no such activist resides over there, the claim of escaping from the spot is impractical and fictitious. The report stated that 6 months ago, some other activists of Chhatrashibir were arrested from that house. This is also not true.

Without probing the incident of explosion, the reporter published a news in advance implicating Jamaat and Chhatrashibir, which is nothing but an ill-political initiative. It has become a bad habit of some reporters to blame Jamaat and Chhatrashbir for all the wrongdoings.

I am urging the authorities of these two dailies to be refrained from publishing such false news in future and expecting that they would publish this rejoinder properly to lessen the mass confusion.
