Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 3 September 2019 protesting and condemning the false and baseless remarks of DMP’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crim Unit (CTTC) chief Monirul Islam as he said that ‘many Jamaat-Shibir activists have joined militant group “Neo-JMB” and they are engaged in carrying out attacks after being angered by the police actions.’

“While talking to the journalists at his office on last 2nd September, DMP’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crim Unit (CTTC) chief Monirul Islam said that ‘many Jamaat-Shibir activists have joined militant group “Neo-JMB” and they are engaged in carrying out attacks after being angered by the police actions.’ His remarks are completely false and far away from truth. I am vehemently condemning such false and baseless comments.

He also made a wrong statement by saying that most of the present leaders and activists of the ‘Neo-JMBare Islamic Chhatra Shibir members. Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir have no nexus with Neo-JMB or JMB at all. There is no requirement of any expert opinion to find out the roots of these outfits. The Holey-artisan terrorist attacks are enough to identify its basic structure.

Police officer Monirul Islam’s comments are politically motivated and fictitious. To conceal their failure, he is blaming Jamaat and Chhatrashibir and tried to implicate these two organizations with the crime incidents. But the countrymen would not be confused and perplexed by such fictitious statement anymore.

I am urging Mr. Monirul Islam to be refrained from making such baseless and false comment against Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir.
