Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on 1st April, 2018 protesting and gainsaying the false and baseless report of Daily Kaler Kantha titled “রংপুরের পিপি রতীশ চন্দ্র ভৌমিক অপহৃত, সন্দেহ জঙ্গি-জামায়াতে!” (Rangpur PP Ratish Chandra Bhoumik abducted, Jamaat under suspicion).

“Jamaat-e-Islami or anybody belong to this organization has no nexus with the abduction incident of Rangpur PP Ratish Chandra Bhoumik. So no question can be emanated of suspecting Jamaat-e-Islami in this regard.

The Daily Kaler Kantha in its report made the title as “Jamaat under suspicion” and put the wondering mark (!) to create confusion. The content of the report has nothing to substantiate the title. This incident also proved that Jamaat had no connection with the incident. The reporter of Daily Kaler Kantha has made the report intentionally. This report is baseless and it has been prepared just to tarnish the image of Jamaat-e-Islami.

I am calling upon the concerned authorities of Daily Kaler Kantha to be refrained from publishing such concocted news in future.”
