Meeting held between the Jamaat Ameer and the EU Delegation

Today, 8 December (Monday) at 11:00 a.m., Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, met with a nine-member high-level delegation of the European Union stationed in Bangladesh during a courtesy meeting at the EU Embassy. The meeting was held in a very cordial and friendly atmosphere.

The delegation included: EU Ambassador Mr. Michael Miller; Sweden’s Ambassador Mr. Nickolas Wikström; Norway’s Ambassador Mr. Håkon Harald Gulbrandsen; Germany’s Ambassador Dr. Rüdiger Lotz; Italy’s Ambassador Mr. Antonio Alessandro; France’s Deputy Ambassador Mr. Frédéric Inza; the Netherlands’ Deputy Ambassador Mr. Thijs Woudstra; EU Deputy Ambassador Ms. Beiba Zherina; and EU Embassy First Secretary Mr. Sebastian Reiger-Braun.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest between Bangladesh and the European Union. The matter of making Bangladesh’s democracy meaningful also received significant emphasis. They expressed hope that the bilateral relations, development process, and forward momentum between the European Union and Bangladesh will continue in the future.

Representing Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, additional participants included party’s Central Executive Council member Mobarak Hossain; educationist and researcher Dr. Mokarram Hossain and Dr. Zubair Ahmed; and Jamaat Ameer’s advisor on Foreign Affairs Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan.
