Jamaat Ameer distributes foods and gift items among the flood victims of Sunamganj

Fear of Allah and love for humanity encourage us to work for the helpless people, says Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahma has distributed foods and gift items among the flood victims of the Sunamganj district. On the 26th of June, Jamaat Ameer visited the flood-affected area of Islampur union, Doara Bazar Sadar union, and Mannargaon union and distributed food and other necessary items among the victims.

Jamaat Ameer further said, we have not come here to give you relief; rather we came here with love and empathy. It was our duty to take care of you by visiting your homes. But we cannot do that due to time shortages. We are sorry for that. Jamaat-e-Islami has some responsibility for you and from that sense of responsibility, we have come to remain by your side.

No person and organization cannot stay by the victim’s side alone. But it is possible for the government. The government is supposed to help the severely affected flood victims. But they failed to do so. Apparently, the government has no responsibility toward the nation. They are busy becoming richer. May Allah help them to understand their duties to the people.

We are here with some gifts. We are not interested to humiliate you by terming its relief. This is mutual assistance and helps to serve our fellow brothers and sisters. This minimum help will not remove your entire suffering, but we will feel a bit relaxed. As the water is declining, we are finding so many dead bodies. After watching these scenes, everybody should act as much as they can. Those who remain indifferent even after watching some painful scenes, they are not normal human beings.

Jamaat Ameer said we did not come here to do politics. We have come here as a part of our humanitarian responsibility. He stated that we are your sinner servants. Please forgive us. Our mistakes and errors have caused these disasters. Make people’s lives easier and normal.

Among others, the central relief committee’s Rangpur region’s coordinator and Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, central executive committee member and Dhaka city South Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, central executive committee member and Dhaka city north Ameer Muhammad Selim Uddin, central relief committee’s Sylhet region’s coordinator and Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Ahasanul Mahabub Zubayer, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Sunamganj district Ameer Maulana Tofayel Ahmed Khan, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka city north Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary Lashkar Mohammad Taslim, Mahfuzur Rahman, Dr. Fakhruddin Manik, and others were present at that time.
