Jamaat leaders take stands by the side of the flood victims; provides financial assistances

Jamaat-e-Islami distributed financial assistances among 25 helpless families of GongachoraUpazila under Rangpur district who suddenly lost their houses due to massive flood in Teesta River. A delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami led by Party’s Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim visited the affected areas of Rangpur today. Among others, central organizing Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Momtaz Uddin, Rangpur district Ameer and MithapukurUpazila’s former chairman Professor Golam Rabbani were also present on the occasion.

Maulana Abdul Halim conveyed the Salam and empathy of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman to the victims. At that time, he said, our neighboring country by unreasonably using dam stopped the water flow in the dry season, which consequently turned the entire Northern region into a desert like area. In those days, people of these areas are dying of water but India does not allow water. On the contrary, they released the water in the rainy season which caused massive flood in Bangladesh. Each year, people of this region have to face such calamities. The floods also destroy crops, land, houses, cattle and all other establishments of this area. This is not a friendly initiative although Bangladeshi people expect some friendly behavior from our neighboring country, India.

Abdul Halim claimed that, to get rid of this crisis there is no solution but establishing a welfare state. Jamaat-e-Islami wants to build a country of harmony by maintaining peace among all the ethnic and religious groups.

Maulana Momtaz Uddin said, it is a believer’s characteristic that people have to seek Almighty Allah’s blessings and helps during crisis.

Rangpur district Ameer Professor Golam Rabbani presided over the program. Among others, Upazila Ameer Professor Md. Raihan Sirazi, Nayeb-e-Ameer Principal Muhammad Abdul Gani, district Secretary Maulana Md. Enamul Haque were present on the occasion.
