Political Career
A public leader Dr Shafiq started his involvement with politics in his student life by joining Chatra League Jasad. Then he joined Bangladesh Chatra league in 1973.
Life in Islamic Movement:
After the first step of the largest Islamic Student movement in Bangladesh Bangladesh Islami Chatra Shibir he left his previous political life and chose Islamic movement. He by degrees became president of Sylhet medical college and president of Sylhet City wing. He was detained in 1982 in his student life.
