Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued a condolence message on May 10 expressing deep condolences on the demise of prominent cultural figure and singer, pioneer of Bhawaiya songs, researcher, and writerr. Mustafa Zaman Abbasi.
In the condolence statement, Jamaat Ameer said that the prominent cultural figure and singer, also known as the prince of Bhawaiya songs Mustafa Zaman Abbasi, had been suffering from various complex diseases including old age for a long time. He passed away in a hospital in Banani in the early hours of Saturday, May 10 (Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un). I express my deep condolences on his demise.
In the condolence message, he also said that Mustafa Zaman Abbasi was born into a prominent cultural family of the subcontinent. Their family has made a great contribution to the cultural arena of Bangladesh. His father Abbasuddin Ahmed was a legendary artist of rural music. Former Chief Justice Mustafa Kamal was the elder brother of late Mustafa Zaman Abbasi.
