“Shaheed Kamaruzzaman was the senior Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat—e-Islami and former central president of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir. Along with performing the organizational duties of Jamaat-e-Islami, he wrote regularly in Daily Sangram and Weekly Sonar Bangla and always raised his voice for truth and justice through his write ups. He had played significant role as an author, researcher, and journalist. He authored several books. His books and writings will inspire the activists of the Islamic movement and the people for many days.
As a member of the liaison committee, he played an important role in the democratic movement during the regime of General Ershad and Sheikh Hasina. The nation will remember him for his outstanding role in upholding democracy, rule of law, justice and human rights. He had a sound relationship with the diplomats who had come in different period in Bangladesh.
He never hesitated to speak the truth. He made a place in the hearts of the people in Bangladeshi politics in a very short time. The name 'Muhammad Kamaruzzaman' will be remembered by the students and youth of Bangladesh.
In connection with a politically motivated concocted case, the government executed Muhammad Kamaruzzaman was executed on 10.30 at night of 11 April, 2015. He is no more with us. But he will live for many days through his writings. I am remembering all his noble contributions. May Allah accept him as a martyr and bless him with Jannah. I am urging my fellow countrymen to finish his unfinished tasks and also to get involved with his movement for establishing a welfare state based on Islamic ideology.
