Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, extended his heartfelt greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr by issuing a statement issued on March 28.
In his statement, he said, "After a month of sacred fasting, Eid-ul-Fitr arrives as a joyous occasion at our doorstep. This year, the nation is celebrating Eid at a time when it has achieved a second independence through the mass movement led by students and the people. Freed from the suffocating grip of fascist regime that lasted over 15 years, the people of the country can now breathe in a free environment, speak their minds without fear, and live in peace and security."
He further prayed, "May Allah Almighty accept them as martyrs those who sacrificed their lives to bring peace, security, and the right to speak freely to this nation. We express our deepest sympathy to those who have been injured and wish them a speedy recovery."
Jamaat Ameer also cautioned that "although the fascist dictatorship has fled the country, they are still conspiring from abroad and through their hidden allies within the country to create unrest. They are actively plotting to prevent a free, fair, and participatory election. The government must put an end to these conspiracies and ensure a proper electoral environment. At the same time, the people must remain united, alert, and vigilant against all anti-national activities. The struggle must continue until a humane and just Bangladesh is established."
He emphasized that "through fasting, we undergo extensive training to uphold Allah’s commandments in our personal, familial, social, and national lives. After a month of spiritual purification, Eid-ul-Fitr arrives, bringing messages of joy and peace to Muslims. This sacred occasion fosters deep bonds of brotherhood among Muslims, regardless of their financial or social status."
He stated, "On this sacred day of Eid, we should set aside all differences and build a grand bridge of kindness, brotherhood, equality, unity, and love among people. Together, we must strive to create a society free from hatred and malice, extend our support to the neglected, deprived, and oppressed individuals, and share in each other's joys and sorrows."
"On behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and from my personal side, I pray for the happiness, peace, prosperity, good health, and safety of my fellow countrymen. Once again, I sincerely extend my heartfelt Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to everyone."
