Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, stated, "The upcoming national election should be proportional. The control of votes and the country should no longer fall into the hands of a specific party. We want to see a society reliant on youth. Together with the younger generation, we will build a nation free from extortion and land grabbers, Insha'Allah. If Jamaat gets the opportunity to serve the country, there will be no need for further demands. Instead, we will identify the problems faced by the people and strive to solve them." He called for building a society that the youth of this country dreamed of, a society free of inequality.
He made these remarks on Thursday, December 26, in the afternoon, while addressing a workers' conference as the chief guest at the Kapotakkho College grounds in Koyra Upazila, Khulna. The event was presided over by Upazila Ameer Maulana Moktar Hossain and hosted by Secretary Maulana Sheikh Sirajul Islam. Special guests included Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Central Executive Council Member Mobarak Hossain, Central Organizing Secretary and Khulna Region’s coordinator Muhaddis Abdul Khaleq, Central Working Committee Member and Khulna Region’s Assistant coordinator Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Khulna District Ameer Maulana Emran Hossain, and Satkhira District Ameer Maulana Shahidul Islam Mukul.
Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "The 2014 election was held without voters. The 2018 election was conducted during the night. The 2024 election was set as a dummy election. People do not want to see such elections anymore. By conducting dummy elections, the Awami League dreamed of staying in power until 2041. However, through the students and people of this country, Allah has saved the nation from their misrule."
He further said, "The Awami League has destroyed the judiciary, the Election Commission, the Anti-Corruption Commission, and even the education system. There was no guarantee of the dignity of women. These inequalities provoked the student community to take a stand. Many, like Rangpur's Abu Saeed, were shot dead in protests. The Awami League did not own this country. If they were, they wouldn't have fled the country. Owners don't abandon their homes; defaulters do. The same happened with the Awami League. Even if Sheikh Hasina leaves the country, she does not let it remain peaceful. Fires of conspiracy are burning everywhere."
He added, "Injustice has been done to us. But we demand justice for the Awami League. Their trial is necessary so that no one else can become such a tyrant. Our children have restored our voting rights. We must uphold their honor. Jamaat-e-Islami wants to build the nation together with everyone. We do not create divisions based on religion or ethnicity. We are not for a specific group but consider 'each of us a warrior.'"
