Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman issued a statement on the occasion of World Human Rights Day on December 9.
In the statement, he said, “December 10 is World Human Rights Day. On this day in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. In 1950, the United Nations declared this day as World Human Rights Day. Since then, this day has been observed as Human Rights Day around the world.
He said, human rights are being grossly violated in Gaza, and the entire Palestine, Kashmir, Myanmar and various countries of the world. The barbaric Israeli forces are carrying out genocide in Gaza with the aim of eradicating the Muslim ethnic group permanently. No one including the women, children, the elderly, students, teachers, imams, muezzins, intellectuals are being spared from the bombings of the murderous Israeli forces. By violating all the rules of war, the Israeli forces have cold-bloodedly killed more than 44,000 unarmed Palestinian civilians and injured more than 105,000 Muslims, most of whom are women and children. An extreme humanitarian disaster has occurred in Gaza. 80 percent of the settlements there have been razed to the ground. The barbaric Israeli forces, the enemy of humanity, are not allowing any medical supplies, medicines, food, or water to enter Gaza. We have no language to condemn this.
He also said, "Human rights are being violated in various countries around the world, including Kashmir, Myanmar's Rakhine, Lebanon, and Ukraine. On World Human Rights Day, we call upon the humanitarian states, institutions, and organizations in the world, including the United Nations, the European Union, to immediately stop the war, uphold human rights, and take effective steps to resolve the problem of Palestine.
