Massive Gathering Held in Oldham, UK

"Bangladesh has found its way back through the recent revolution" - Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated that the path Bangladesh had lost due to the chaos of the 28th October 2006 "Logi-Baitha" violence was regained through the revolution of students and the general masses on August 5th.

He made these remarks while addressing a gathering as the chief guest organized by the Oldham branch of the Coalition for Peace and Justice in Bangladesh, with expatriate well-wishers, at the Grand Venue Banqueting in Oldham, as part of his UK tour on November 13.

In the meeting, chaired by Maulana Nauman Ahmed and hosted by Syed Badarul Alam, Nurul Amin Tariq, and Sarwar Hossain, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman emphasized the need for unity in shaping the future of Bangladesh. He called on the current government to start the process of prosecuting the leaders and activists of the corrupt authoritarian Awami League party who were involved in genocide and oppression.

He further stated that 11 leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami had been killed, including five who were hanged and six who were killed in prison.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman urged everyone to observe and monitor the activities of Jamaat-e-Islami and called upon the gathering to provide constructive advice as it will help the party to rectify if any actions, in this world or the hereafter, could potentially harm the nation and people.

Additionally, he made a fervent appeal to everyone to play responsible roles within their families and communities. He emphasized the importance of respecting the country in which the expatriates reside, upholding its laws, maintaining social order, and contributing to the country's social development.
