Jamaat Ameer addresses Ulama conference in London

Spiritual unity among scholars is necessary, says Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "There is a need for genuine spiritual unity among scholars. If spiritual unity is ensured, we will receive unlimited blessings from Almighty Allah. We want unity, but we also set different conditions for such desired unity. If we continue to give conditions and requirements, conditions, the process of unity will be complex and difficult. In our country, there are some disagreements between the scholars on some issues. Our thinking process and working scope is not the same. But those who accept the Qur'an as a guide for life, accept and recognize the leadership of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) wholeheartedly, and consider the Sahaba (RA) as a real model of obedience to Allah and the Messenger (PBUH), can be united.

He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at an exchange meeting organized by the all-party ulama organization of Britain titled "Bangladeshi Ulama Mashaikh UK" held at Mayda Grill Hall, East London on 11 November'24. Bangladeshi Ulama-Mashayekh UK President Maulana AK Maudud Hasan presided over the program which were jointly hosted by Maulana Shah Mizanul Haque and Maulana FKM Shahjahan. Among others, Chairman of the Council for Mosques and Ishayatul Islam Maulana Hafez Shamsul Haque, Central Nayeb-e-Ameer of the Khilafat Majlis Professor Maulana Abdul Qadir Saleh, Prominent Islamic thinker Mufti Shah Sadarddin, Ameer of Dawatul Islam UK Shaikh Abdur Rahman Madani, Central Joint Secretary General of Jamiat-e- Ulamae Islam Maulana Dr. Shuaib Ahmad, Central International Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis Maulana Faiz Ahmad and others spoke on the occasion.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, religion is not only for Jamaat-e-Islami, it belongs to everyone. So we all will continue to fight for Deen. We will try to move forward with Islam by embracing everyone as brothers and friends.

He requested the scholars to consider everything through Four Dimensional Ways and said, "Jamaat Islami and other Islamic organizations and Markaz are working on the field. If you see any mistake among us, try to correct us. If you cooperate in this way, it will be much easier for us to follow the path of religion. We can move forward if we have mutual prayers, love and cooperation between you and us. We will not let anyone to fall into the trap of mistakea, rather we will follow the policy of correcting mistakes.”

He referred to Britain as a hub for intellectual excellence and said, "Britain is considered as the center of intellectual practice in the world. You are in such an environment. In some cases, you are enjoying more freedom here than in Bangladesh. Here, no one hinders the development of your talent. As in Bangladesh it is blocked in various ways. Due to the fact that the practice of merit is more here, we have more rights over you. You will get that right, Insha Allah.
