Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "There is no single mastermind of the movement or revolution which have freed us from fascism. People of the country joined the movement wholeheartedly. The youth has led the movement. Jamaat-e-Islami does not consider the brave martyrs of this movement from a partisan perspective. They are national heroes.
He also said that people do not want to see a divided nation. They want to see united Bangladesh. We also want to build a beautiful Bangladesh on the basis of national unity. Everyone should work together for the country irrespective of the political differences for the sake of national interest. After the plot change on August 5, many miscreants are trying to raise their heads. They must be resisted.”
He said this while addressing the Rukon conference where the members of Bogra city and district branch of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami took part on Saturday morning. Jamaat-e-Islami Bogra City Ameer Principal Abidur Rahman Sohel presided over the Rukon conference which was organized at the historic Altafunnesa playground.
Jamaat-e-Islami's Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Central Executive Council Member Principal Shahabuddin and Bangladesh Sramik Kollan Federation's Vice President Golam Rabbani attended the conference as special guests.
Jamaat Ameer said, "Sheikh Hasina's government has killed the top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami in a planned way cold in the name of trial process. Jamaat's offices across the country were closed. For 13 and a half years we could not sit in our office. Our registration and symbols were forcibly taken away. Our houses were razed to the ground by bulldozers. The government finally banned Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir in a bid to misguide the students' movement. Finally, Sheikh Hasina not only had to give up power, but also forced to flee the country due to the fear of student movement.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, just as our leader Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) had opened the door for Islam after his migration from Makkah, similarly after August 5, unlimited opportunities have been created for us. He urged the Rukons to take advantage of this opportunity to convey the invitation of Islam to every home.
Jamaat Ameer said that the last days of the recent movement were not easy at all. The lives of the agitators became precarious. They could not sit together and take any decision. By risking their lives, they fought and brought freedom to the nation. Victory came at the cost of thousands of lives, and the cries of thousands of wounded. We have a responsibility to all martyrs and injured.
Jamaat-e-Islami will support the martyrs and the injured as much as possible. He directed the local leaders to stand by the martyrs and injured of Bogra district.
Bogra region team member Maulana Abdur Rahim and Professor Nazrul Islam, Jaipurhat District Amir Dr. Fazlur Rahman Saeed, Sirajganj District Amir Maulana Shahinur Alam, Bogra West District Amir Principal Maulana Abdul Haque Sarkar, East District Amir Professor Nazim Uddin also spoke at the conference. Bogra City Secretary A.S.M. Abdul Malek, East District Secretary Maulana Mansurur Rahman and West District Secretary Manjurul Islam Raju hosted the program.
Later, Jamaat Ameer administered the oath to the newly elected Bogra City Ameer Amir Abidur Rahman Sohel and Bogra District Ameer Maulana Abdul Haque Sarkar.
