Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 8th August, 2024 congratulating the newly formed interim government of Bangladesh.
"On August 5, the dictator Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country in the face of the mass movement of the students. The country has become free from the autocratic regime in exchange for many sacrifices and bloods of the agitating students. Subsequently an interim government has been formed today headed by internationally renowned economist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The students and the general masses have high expectations from the interim government. We hope that the interim government will be able to fulfill the expectations of the countrymen.
I would like to congratulate the chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and all the advisors of the interim government. We call on the administration, judiciary and the election commission to complete the necessary reforms of the state and arrange national election as soon as possible in order to hand over power to the elected representatives of the people.”
