Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr.Shafiqur Rahman issued the following statement on 5th August, 2024 urging all to make ongoing peaceful movement of the students successful by all means.
"The student communities of the country has been continuing movement since last July. By the grace of Almighty Allah, this movement is now on the verge of victory. People of all classes and professions have already extended full solidarity to the ongoing movement. The unity beteeen the patriotic students and general masses has given birth to a new history. Hundreds of students have been killed by the oppressors during this movement. I am paying my highest tribute for them and pray to the Almighty seeking mercy and forgiveness for their departed souls. May Allah accept all of them as martyrs. I am also extending my deepest condolences to their bereaved families. I also pray for the quick recovery of the injured victims.
We firmly believe that today’s (August 5, 2024) 'March to Dhaka' program will create a new milestone, Insha' Allah. I am urging all my colleagues of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the freedom-seeking people of the country to take to the street in order to make this program a completely successful. The victory of the oppressed is assured and certain, Insha Allah.”
