Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will not give any false assurances beyond its capacity. Only those plans which are possible for us to implement will be placed before the nation, and if we receive the cooperation of the nation, those will also be implemented.”
He made these remarks on Tuesday (30 December) morning at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital at a live interaction and question-and-answer program titled ‘Hello Our Leader’ organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. Students, young people and youth citizens from various educational institutions of the country participated in the program.
The Jamaat Ameer further said, “With the aim of knowing the thoughts and expectations of the citizens, Jamaat-e-Islami has already published the ‘People’s Manifesto’ (Janatar Ishtehar). The proposals, thoughts and dreams received from there will be included in our final manifesto, Insha’Allah. Giving the highest importance to the thoughts of the youth, plans are being arranged step by step, which will be transformed into practical programs.
Addressing the country’s ‘Generation Z’, that is, the student and youth community, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that the Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi was an uncompromising courageous voice against hegemony. Carrying his ideals, the youth must stand up for Bangladesh and say, ‘I am Hadi.’
He further said, “True youth is not in age but in mental firmness. Retreating in the face of a minor obstacle means lack of leadership. Jamaat-e-Islami wants to build such a youthful Bangladesh that will remain steadfast against injustice.”
Referring to the political history of Bangladesh, he said, “After 1947 this land was subjected to exploitation and discrimination for a long time. By denying the results of the 1970 election, the War of Liberation became inevitable.
Although the journey of independent Bangladesh began on 10 January 1972, an equity-based and discrimination-free state has not yet been established.”
Making allegations, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “From January 2009 to 5 August 2024 a fascist rule prevailed in the country, where not only political opponents but also the general people were subjected to oppression. The attempt to suppress the just demand for quota reform paved the way for the latest mass uprising, in which the student and youth community played a leading role.”
He expressed deep respect and gratitude to the martyred and injured students, youths and workers of the mass uprising. At the same time, paying tribute to the Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, convener of the Inqilab Mancha, he said, “His sacrifice will remain an inspiration for new leadership and struggle.”
At the program, expressing sorrow over the demise of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, the Jamaat Ameer said that her struggle for human rights and democracy will remain memorable in history. He prayed for the forgiveness of the soul of the deceased and expressed deep condolences to the mournful family.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Executive Council Member Mobarak Hossain, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the party’s Central Publicity and Media Department Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, along with central and metropolitan leaders of the organization were present at the event.
