On the morning of 4 December (Thursday), a courtesy meeting was held between Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, and the British High Commissioner to Dhaka Ms. Sarah Cooke at his office in Bashundhara. Accompanying the High Commissioner was Mr. Timothy Duckett, Head of Political Affairs at the High Commission, while Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Jamaat Ameer was present alongside the Jamaat chief.
In a very cordial and friendly atmosphere, they held open discussions on various prevailing issues in Bangladesh. Both sides expressed optimism that the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom would further strengthen in future.
The upcoming UK visit of Ameer of Jamaat Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was also discussed during the meeting.
It is noteworthy that during the upcoming visit, a meeting between the Jamaat Ameer and a minister of the British government is scheduled to take place.
