Carter Center delegation meets Jamaat leaders

A meeting between the visiting US-based Carter Center delegation and the leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was held at Hotel Westin on May 8 at 5:30 pm in a very cordial atmosphere. The meeting discussed in detail the issue of holding the next national parliamentary elections in a free, fair and impartial manner.

The delegation was led by Jonathan Stonestreet, Senior Associate Director of the Carter Center's Democracy Program, and its Senior Associate Directors Tara Sharif, Michael Baldassaro, Saira Zahedi, Daniel Richards and Kazi Shahidul Islam.

The delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami was led by party's Nayeb-e-Ameer and former lawmaker Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, and also included Jamaat's Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum, Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ehsanul Mahboob Zubair, and Central Executive Council Member Mubarak Hossain and Central Working Committee Member Advocate Jasim Uddin Sarkar.
