On Sunday, April 13, on the occasion of the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, His Excellency Mr. Syed Ahmed Maroof, the Honorable High Commissioner of Pakistan to Bangladesh, hosted a reception at the Grand Ballroom of the Le Méridien Hotel in Dhaka. Ambassadors and diplomats from various countries, political leaders, retired military officers, and senior government officials attended the event.
Representing Jamaat-e-Islami at the event were the party’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman, Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Assistant Secretary Generals Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Maulana Abdul Halim, Advocate Muazzam Hossain Helal, and Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, Central Executive Council member and Secretary of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda, Central Executive Council member Mr. Mobarak Hossain, Central Executive Council member and Ameer of Dhaka City South Nurul Islam Bulbul, and Central Executive Council member and Ameer of Dhaka City North Mr. Mohammad Selim Uddin.
During the program, on behalf of the Honorable Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, a message of goodwill was handed over to the Honorable High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Syed Ahmed Maroof, by the party’s Secretary General and former MP, Professor Mia Golam Porwar.
The Jamaat-e-Islami delegation expressed hope that the friendly relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh would be further strengthened in the days to come.
